Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
matthew 28:19

The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA), formerly known as RCIA, is the process through which adults explore the Catholic faith and prepare to become full members of the Catholic Church. Whether you’re unbaptized, baptized in another Christian tradition, or simply seeking to deepen your understanding, OCIA provides a welcoming space to learn, ask questions, and journey in faith with others. Through prayer, study, and community, participants grow closer to Christ and prepare to receive the sacraments of initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist.
Who is it for?
OCIA is for adults who are interested in becoming Catholic or completing their initiation into the Catholic Church. This includes:
- Unbaptized individuals who are seeking to learn about the Catholic faith and prepare for Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist.
- Baptized Christians from other denominations who wish to enter into full communion with the Catholic Church.
- Baptized Catholics who have not received all of the sacraments of initiation (Confirmation and/or Eucharist).
- Anyone who wants to explore the Catholic faith more deeply in a supportive and prayerful environment.
No matter where you are on your faith journey, OCIA is a place to grow, ask questions, and experience the life of the Church. For more information, contact the OCIA Director 415-731-6161.
