Ordination is the sacred rite through which a man is consecrated as a deacon, priest, or bishop with the Catholic Church. Through the laying on of hands and a solemn prayer of consecration by a bishop, the individual receives the grace and spiritual authority to carry out specific ministerial duties. Ordination imprints an indelible spiritual mark, setting the man apart for lifelong serve to the Church.
